Magson-Cake Merchant

Recently Hassan Radwan, a school teacher living in London, England sent me a photo taken by his mother, Mary Magson.    He said it was taken in Pickering, England but he did not know anything more about it.
I immediately thought of David Magson in Indonesia as I knew his ancestors came from Pickering, so I sent the photo to him.
This was his reply -
"That was my Uncle(s) and before him my grandfather's store.  Three generations lived in the house which was at the end of a long garden behind the store.  The house fronted onto Potters Hill (no 26) - Uncle Jack Magson also lived on Potters hill near the back.  My Uncle is still alive but sold the business and retired about 18 years ago.  It was very sad to see the business and more especially the house get sold.  Prior to setting up the grain merchants - my grandfather and before him my great grandfather drove the mail coach"
David

A united effort by people in three countries unravelled this mystery.
