| I received a letter from a lady in England, which I will quote here: "I am a Magson, Rose Magson. There are not many left. I can give you a little information. I am trying to get more from my brother Byron Magson aged 92 years... he is the oldest Magson in Coventry. I understand my great-great grandfather gave the land to have built the Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital, much bigger now of course. This is as far as I can go at this time: My Grandad Magson (had children) Walter Henry Magson (my father) who married Matilda Austin and had 3 sons; Harold Magson; and Nellie Magson. (Walter died 2 years ago, leaving Betty, Pat and David Magson. Harold died a few years ago.) Byron Magson the oldest still living in Coventry. I was born much later, 1920. Byron has a son Edward Magson. My father as a young man won many prizes for running(?) for Cov. Brother Walter used to have a jewellers shop and repaired watches. I am now Mrs. H.C. Brooks. I hope this may help you and if and when I get more information I will write again." Some of this is a little unclear, so I may have misinterpreted what she wrote. i.e. if she and her brother Byron are the children of Walter, why does she say he left children Betty, Pat and David, uless this Walter is one of the children of Walter Henry.I suspect strongly that she and her brother Byron are the grandchildren of the Byron Magson who was the son of Jonathan, and brother of your(Joan Pendleton) grandfather Sam. I have a photo of Byron and his family, taken sometime during WW I, with only a few of them identified, i.e. Walt, Lily, Walt's wife, Lily's husband, Nellie....The coincidence of the names is too close... so I sent Mrs. Brooks a copy of the photo (I'll attach it here too) to see if she could give me any further identifications.Byron is the man with the moustache, seated to the right in the middle row. I believe the man in uniform is Rose Brooks' father, since he's identified as Walt.Anyway, I thought you'd be interested. Not really my direct family, but my grandmother kept in touch with her half-brother Byron, so I feel a connection.
