In 1897, Samuel Cockroft, Joshua`s son, together with father Joshua, who died during the move, transferred the family business ( for want of a better water supply ) to Bradford, installing themselves in Barkerend Mills, Barkerend Road, Bradford, where they rose to be one of the city`s biggest worsted spinners. This move brought Joseph Broadbent Magson and his family to Bradford with the firm, plus many other employees from the old Mill at Burr Wood. Joseph and his wife had nine children, one of who was my grandfather Walter Magson, who from his marriage with Clara Hewitson in 1906, had 2 sons, Harold and Edmund, Harold being my father.
